Cool Savings Rebate

A $25 rebate for the installation of a programmable thermostat by a participating contractor
A $125 rebate for the replacement of an existing furnace with the purchase of a mid or high-efficiency furnace equipped with an Electronically Commutated Motor (ECM)
A $250 rebate for the replacement of an existing central air conditioner with the purchase of an ENERGY STAR qualified central air conditioning system, heat pump, or ductless split system.
A $400 rebate for the replacement of an existing central air conditioner with the purchase of an ENERGY STAR qualified, stand-alone CEE “Tier 2″ level central air conditioning system (CAC) or heat pump.

ecoEnergy Retro-Fit Grant & Ontario Home Energy Audit

Homes provides home and property owners with grants of up to $10,000 to offset the cost of making energy-efficiency improvements. The amount of your grant will depend on the upgrades you complete.
Five Easy Steps to qualify
1. Hire a Natural Resources Canada certified energy advisor to perform an energy evaluation of your home. The advisor will give you a pre-retrofit evaluation report and EnerGuide rating label for your home.
2. During the Home Energy Audit, the energy advisor will provide a personalized Energy Efficiency Evaluation Report and a plan that can reduce your energy bills. The report shows how energy efficient your home is and how efficient it could be with energy-saving improvements.
3. Select your improvements and implement the recommended energy upgrades, leaving time to ensure your post-retrofit evaluation is completed within 18 months or before March 31, 2011.
4. Call your energy advisor to perform your post-retrofit evaluation, to confirm your energy rating and to submit your grant application.
5. Wait 90 days from the date off post-retrofit evaluation to receive your cheque. The Governments of Ontario and Canada will each rebate up to $5,000 for your energy efficient upgrades.

Home Renovation Credit:

A new furnace, air conditioner, woodstove, boiler, fireplace, water softener or water heater and other upgrades to your home qualify for the tax credit.
The credit will only be available for the 2009 tax year and applies to eligible expenditures of more than $1,000, but not more than $10,000, resulting in a maximum credit of $1,350 ($9,000 x 15%).
