Earning the ENERGY STAR means products meet strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy. • Homes provides home and property owners with grants of up to $10,000 to offset the cost of making energy-efficiency improvements. The amount of your grant will depend on the upgrades you complete.
• Five Easy Steps to qualify
  1. Hire a Natural Resources Canada certified energy advisor to perform an energy evaluation of your home. The advisor will give you a pre-retrofit evaluation report and EnerGuide rating label for your home.
  2. During the Home Energy Audit, the energy advisor will provide a personalized Energy Efficiency Evaluation Report and a plan that can reduce your energy bills. The report shows how energy efficient your home is and how efficient it could be with energy-saving improvements.
  3. Select your improvements and implement the recommended energy upgrades, leaving time to ensure your post-retrofit evaluation is completed within 18 months or before March 31, 2011.
  4. Call your energy advisor to perform your post-retrofit evaluation, to confirm your energy rating and to submit your grant application.
  5. Wait 90 days from the date off post-retrofit evaluation to receive your cheque. The Governments of Ontario and Canada will each rebate up to $5,000 for your energy efficient upgrades.

• A new furnace, air conditioner, woodstove, boiler, fireplace, water softener or water heater and other upgrades to your home qualify for the tax credit.

Payne PA4A R410 Central Air Conditioners

14 SEER Series

The PA4A offers our highest efficiency, 14 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating). Like miles-per-gallon for a car, SEER ratings allow consumers to compare energy efficiency of air conditioners – the higher the SEER, the better the efficiency. This model also features our deluxe dense grill for greater protection of the unit’s outside coil.

SXT+ Series

Quiet

The Copeland Scroll® compressor operates without noisy pistons and comes with a deluxe sound blanket to reduce compressor sound levels. Two-stage operation means it runs mostly in the lower, quieter stage and switches to the higher stage in higher temperatures for more cooling.

Durable

The painted, galvanized steel cabinet features a powder-coat, baked-on finish and a coated inlet grille with narrower spacing to provide maximum protection as it allows for proper airflow and easy coil cleaning.

Efficient

The scroll compressor and the 7 mm copper tubing with aluminum fin coils work collectively to save on energy.

Choose High Efficiency

The efficiency of an air conditioner is determined by the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) rating.  The higher the SEER rating, the greater the efficiency and the more the potential for savings on energy costs.  Whirlpool brand air conditioners range in efficiency from 13 to 18 SEER.  While the 13 SEER product saves remarkable amounts of energy, the ENERGY STAR® qualified 18 SEER unit is our most energy-efficient air conditioner currently available.

Note: If your current system is more than 10 years old, it most likely has a SEER rating of 10 or below.

Be Eco-Conscious

When purchasing a new air conditioner, be sure to ask your dealer what type of refrigerant the system uses. Whirlpool Gold® air conditioners are available with the new, environmentally friendly R410A refrigerant. This chlorine-free refrigerant is better for the environment and it transfers heat more efficiently.

Note: Within the next few years manufacturers will no longer be able to use the old R22 refrigerant so servicing a system containing the old refrigerant will become more expensive.
